We are growing Kentucky businesses to positively impact people, our planet, and our future.
We are a start-up non-profit working to support and recognize for-profit businesses with a stated social or environmental mission. From our headquarters in Louisville’s Portland Neighborhood, our small team is working with business owners and leaders throughout the state to create the Canopy Certified Program. Our program has two intentions: guide companies to greater impact and recognize them when they are doing it well.
Canopy believes that Kentucky businesses – in partnership with nonprofits and government – can make a positive impact on pressing issues by providing diversified funding, additional human resources, and innovative solutions. Many nonprofits agree and want access to impact-driven businesses in order to create formalized operational and financial partnerships.
As we develop our program, we are dedicated to growing the awareness and culture around the good business movement through educational outreach and live events.
Canopy’s Founder, Scott Koloms, has passionately advocated for a socially conscious and impact-driven business movement in Kentucky for the last two years. He dreams of Kentucky having the strongest, most effective group of for-profit social enterprises in the country. Over the last few years, Koloms played a pivotal role in the passage of the Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) legislation in Kentucky. As President and owner of Facilities Management Services (FMS), PBC, Koloms also led FMS to become the first public benefit corporation in Kentucky and the first janitorial services company in the world to become a certified B Corp.
