Canopy is branching out! As part of Cultivating Compassion Louisville, we have partnered with Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion to host a special live event with Thupten Jinpa, Leah Weiss, and socially minded business leaders in Louisville. At 7pm on May 15th, Cultivating Social Enterprise in Business will share experiences and ideas in good business. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, business owner, community leader, teacher, or curious consumer, this will be an evening not to miss!
Mayor Greg Fischer will moderate this unique discussion with two leaders in the field of compassion and altruism research. As businesses strive to take more responsibility for their employees, communities, and environment, Leah Weiss and Thupten Jinpa have emerged as important voices in understanding the motivations of individuals and how they connect with others.
Thupten Jinpa has been the principal English translator to His Holiness the Dalai Lama since 1985 and has translated and collaborated on numerous books by the Dalai Lama including the New York Times Bestsellers Ethics for the New Millennium and The Art of Happiness. His own publications include A Fearless Heart: How the Courage to be Compassionate Can Transform Our Lives.
Leah Weiss served as Director of Education at Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) from 2010-2013. She now consults for the Omidyar Group’s 21st Century Leadership Initiative. Her book, How We Work: Live Your Purpose, Reclaim Your Sanity and Embrace the Daily Grind, published by HarperCollins, was released in 2018.
